Dear Alliance Friends,
We are excited to announce the Tennessee Medical Association Alliance Endowed Doctor of Medicine Scholarship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine! This scholarship will benefit the child of a retired or practicing Tennessee physician who is a fourth-year medical student at the UTHSC College of Medicine. The initial seed money of $25,000 has been transferred to the UT Foundation from TMAA. The Chattanooga Medical Alliance has donated an additional $5,000.
A total fund balance of $50,000 is required to award a scholarship. Therefore, we will be working over the next 18 months to raise the additional $20,000 needed to award the first scholarship to coincide with TMAA’s 100thAnniversary in 2027. We feel giving out the first scholarship would be a wonderful way to celebrate our 100th anniversary and establish a legacy for TMAA.
As members of the family of medicine, we are passionate about giving back to the profession to which we are connected. TMAA has been instrumental in connecting medical families across the state providing educational, philanthropic, and advocacy opportunities. With the continued rising costs of tuition and living expenses associated with a medical education, this scholarship offers TMAA a fantastic way to give back to the family of medicine and add to our legacy.
