TMAA PHILANTHROPIC FUND |
The Tennessee Medical Association Alliance (TMAA) is a 501(c)4 organization of physician spouses that has been dedicated to building health communities in Tennessee since 1927. TMAA achieves its mission through philanthropic endeavors and volunteer efforts coordinated by its members. In 2005-2006, the TMAA established the TMAA Philanthropic Fund, a 501(c)3 charitable fund to receive tax-deductible contributions. Grants are awarded to fund qualifying projects.
Last year the TMAA Philanthropic Fund awarded over $3,500 in grants to assist health projects in Tennessee communities. Recipients of TMAA Philanthropic Health Grants include:
Chattanooga Medical Alliance (CMA)
Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance (KAMA)
Washington Unicoi Johnson County Alliance (WUJ)
The TMAA Philanthropic Fund also supports TMAA State Health Promotion Projects that unite county alliances and AIMS around a common signature effort, M.E.D.S. (Make Every Drug Safer), to promote the safe use and disposal of medications, and prevention of opioid misuse. In 2023-2024, TMAA partnered with Dispose RX to distribute 500 medication disposal packets, accompanied by patient education materials regarding the importance of proper disposal of unused prescription medications, to select sites in Chattanooga, Knoxville , and Johnson City.
