Health PromotionsPartnering with physicians, healthcare organizations, and health initiatives to build healthy communities in our state distinguishes the mission of TMAA. Through education and service, our Health Promotions projects are a major emphasis of our state and county alliances. M.E.D.S. | Make Every Drug SaferThe TMA Alliance Health Promotions committee’s signature effort endorses alliance initiatives throughout the state that work toward improving medication safety and reducing substance abuse or misuse. 2024 State Health Promotion Project | Dispose RXTMAA partnered with Dispose RX to conduct a statewide Health Promotion effort in 2024. Dispose RX provided medication disposal packets and co-branded patient education material that were distributed by TMAA to select sites in Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Johnson City. The goal was to encourage patient compliance in the proper disposal of unused prescription medications by providing education and disposal resources directly to patients. In addition, TMAA Health Promotions sponsored a Lunch & Learn speaker from Dispose RX who spoke to members about the Dispose RX product and provided an update on the opioid epidemic, including the availability of resources available to states under opioid settlement remediation. Health GrantsThe TMA Alliance Philanthropic Fund awards health grants to Tennessee county alliances and AIMs to help fund health promotions projects throughout the state. Projects that receive TMAA funding may be branded with the TMAA logo, shared at annual meetings, and may qualify for AMA Alliance Health Awareness Promotion (HAP) Awards. |
